Comet McNaught over London

Comet C/2006 P1 McNaught makes a fine sight over the London skyline, sandwiched between Big Ben (officially the Clocktower of the Palace of Westminster) and the London Eye observation wheel.

This was the brightest comet to be seen from the UK since Hale-Bopp in 1997, but was nothing compared to what happened when it swung past the Sun and into the southern hemisphere, where it became the most spectacular comet of a generation.
